Graco Snugride Review

Graco SnugRide Click & Connect

Before my son George was born my husband purchased the Graco SnugRide Click Connect, however we ended up being gifted a second car seat, the BOB B-Safe car seat at our baby shower. After trialing out both car seats for a few weeks, we decided to keep the Graco SnugRide and to gift the BOB to a friend who was expecting. Continue reading to discover it’s pros and cons.

Pros:

1. It can accommodate up to 35 pounds

This particular model can be used by infants who weigh up to 35 pounds, whilst most car seats like the BOB B-Safe car seat can only accommodate infants who weigh up to 30 pounds. If you’re like me and would prefer to use the same car seat for as long as possible, it’s well worth investing in the SnugRide. As a bonus, you can also start using this particular model as soon as your baby is born, as it’s also designed to accommodate new born babies as well as premature babies who weigh as little as four pounds.

2. It’s designed to protect your baby in an accident

This model offers a variety of safety features which are designed to protect your baby, in the event of a car accident. As an example, it boasts an EPS foam seat liner which is designed to absorb the impact of a collision. The body of this particular car seat has also been engineered to withstand double the impact, which car seats are required to withstand under federal law. If you’re anything like me, purchasing a car seat which offers so many safety features will give you piece of mind, that you’re doing everything you can to protect your new bundle of joy.

How does the BOB B-Safe compare? Although it too offers an EPS foam liner as well as a variety of basic safety features, the B-Safe hasn’t been tested as rigorously as the Click Connect model, which exceeds all of the federal safety requirements. Both car seats however, offer five point harnesses which ensure that your little one is safely secured whilst you’re driving.

3. Once locked in it’s secured and won’t slide around, when you drive

This particular model has been slide impact tested and is guaranteed to stay in place whilst you’re driving. My husband and I conducted our own little test, my husband drove down a windy road whilst I sat in the back of our car with our son. His car seat remained locked in place for the entire drive, thanks in part to the car seat base which came with our car seat and is designed to be left in your car for your convenience.

4. It can be used in conjunction with Graco Click Connect branded strollers

If you’re looking at purchasing a stroller as well as a car seat, I highly recommend purchasing the Graco SnugRide car seat and one of the Graco Click Connect strollers as I did and love how easy it is to fit my car seat into my stroller. Seriously, to secure my car seat into my stroller only takes one second as my car seat literally clicks right into my stroller. In contrast, whilst the BOB B-Safe car seat is compatible with BOB branded strollers you need to fiddle around with an awkward adaptor in order to lock it into a compatible stroller.

5. It’s designed to be comfortable

Whilst safety is paramount and our top concern, we also wanted to ensure that our son would be comfortable in the car seat which we’d keep. Our son seemed more comfortable in the SnugRide, which boasted a removable head cushion, a comfortable base and an adjustable sun shade. Whilst the BOB car seat does offer a sun shade it didn’t cover our son’s entire body.

Cons:

Just one, it’s a little wider than some of the alternatives on the market

While we have a SUV and don’t have any trouble fitting it in the back seat, it was a little bit of a tight squeeze fitting it in the back seat of my mom’s little car. However, on the bright side as it’s slighter wider at 18.7 inches my son will be able to fit into it for months to come.

Conclusion:

After testing out both car seats, I would definitely recommend our chosen car seat, the Graco Click Connect car seat over the BOB B-Safe.
