Chicco Liteway Plus Review

Chicco Liteway Umbrella Stroller

The Best Umbrella Stroller That Reclines

As an expecting mom, I had to prepare for my son’s arrival months before my due date. Shopping for baby equipment when your little one is about to pop is not a good idea, and so is shopping when your bundle of joy has actually arrived. So I made it a point that all of my baby’s clothes, bottles, and every single thing that’s needed were ready when the stork came to my door.

One of the things that I really wanted to buy was a stroller – something that I could use when my baby was born and until he no longer needs it. In short, I wanted to buy only 1 stroller for my son’s entire childhood. So I opted for the Chicco Liteway Plus Stroller, Silver – sturdy, functional with its 2 capacities, and has a good long term value.

My son is 1 year and 5 months old now and his stroller has become his best friend. Whenever he’s all grumpy and sleepy, all I do is put my son in the stroller, push him around the backyard for a few minutes, and he’s snoring like a big old man in just minutes.

If you’re an expecting mom, you should get this stroller ’cause it’s been heaven sent for me. Here is what I think about this Chicco Liteway Plus Stroller:

What I Like About It

The #1 reason why I bought this stroller is because it has an excellent long term value. It’s a car seat carrier and stroller all in one – so it’s actually a dual-function stroller.

It’s compatible with Chicco’s KeyFit infant car seats, which are sold separately. When my baby was born, I used the KeyFit car seat to take him from the hospital to our car. I would even place my baby on the rocking seat to put him to sleep almost every single day until he was about 2 months old. When we’d go to the park or to my sister’s house which is only a couple blocks away, I used the Chicco Liteway Plus stroller in its stroller frame.

Now that my son’s over a year old, I don’t use the stroller frame anymore and use the toddler mode instead. I still have my KeyFit car seat – which I’m keeping for my future children. It has 5 recline positions that give my son excellent comfort.

When he’s sleepy, I simply adjust the position to the minimum angle and he falls asleep right then and there – which I really love because I can’t carry him all day just to make him sleep. I actually depend on this stroller to make my baby take his naps – without it, I don’t even know how I could make my son sleep at all.

What I Don’t Like About It

There are a couple of things that might have made this stroller perfect for me. The canopy is actually skimpy – it only covers my son’s head and chest when he sits on it, and even when he lies down. I’d have to use a blanket or umbrella to cover him when I take him out to the park and he falls asleep.

When I used the stroller frame and then the toddler mode when I went to the mall, it took me longer than expected to convert the stroller. It would’ve been really nice if the conversion was a little less complicated.

Compared to Maclaren Triumph Stroller

My sister’s son is 3 years old and she uses the Maclaren Triumph Stroller. She actually urged me to buy the very same one as hers but I bought the Chicco instead. She absolutely loves her Maclaren but I’m actually not taken by it.

Yes, it’s very light weight, which makes it so easy to carry around especially if you’re constantly traveling with your baby, but it also means you can’t really place anything heavy on the handles or in the basket.

While I also love that it folds better than my Chicco Liteway Plus, I don’t like the fact that folding it makes the canopy dirty cause it meets the wheels.

The Bottom Line

For a stroller that has an incredible long term value – this 2 in 1 Chicco Liteway Plus stroller is a steal. You can use this very same stroller for your newborn up until he’s about 5 – 6 years old. Although its canopy is a little skimpy, you can easily remedy this downside by using a blanket when your child falls asleep in it. For a stroller that can last through multiple kids, this Chicco Liteway Plus stroller is a great option.
